Our team PADDY'S IN SPACE has officially made it into the top 20 teams in the world on the SETI@home project. We also broke 10 million in total credit in the process.
And the icing on the cake, team "Paddy's and Ireland" won the 2007 SETI@home Gauntlet.
The team PADDY'S IN SPACE started on the 9th of October 2006. I have worked very hard over the last year to make this team one of the very best teams in the world and now we have the rankings to prove it.
Together as a team effort, we have all worked hard to learn more about SETI@home and we have built one of the really great world SETI@home teams. We can now stand proud on the world stage!
We also got a very big boost from the 2007 SETI@home Gauntlet. The team PADDY'S IN SPACE combined with team Ireland for what was one of the most exciting competitions ever to be held on SETI@home. There were 14 teams in the competition and the two teams PADDY'S IN SPACE and team Ireland combined together to make one team that we called "Paddy's and Ireland".
When the 2007 SETI@home Gauntlet started, both of the teams were at the bottom of the ranking. So by combining forces and forming one team called "Paddy's and Ireland", we went from strength to strength during the competition. The Gauntlet was held over two weeks from the 4th of November to the 18th of November. It was only in the last two days of the competition, after an almighty battle, that we took the lead in the race.
With tension in the air and every team scrambling for every and any computer they could get their hands on, Paddy's and Ireland shot into the lead to take first place and the gold medal. Everybody agreed that it was a very well fought race and one of the best competitions ever in the 9 year history of SETI@home.

The real winner in the Gauntlet competition was SETI@home and the science of looking for other life in the universe. That is ultimately why we run SETI@home on our computers. The gauntlet competition caused hundreds of extra people to get involved in SETI@home and a massive amount of scientific work was done while we all had fun crunching.
Many thanks also goes to the crew at SETI@NETHERLANDS who organised this competition in the first place. We had many problems with statistics during the competition, but the Dutch crew came through and kept the Gauntlet moving the whole way to the end. So thanks especially goes to "XP Freek" and his team for their hard work. Thanks also to "Elteor" of the "Dutch Power Cows" team for doing stats for the competition.
I want to say thank you to everybody on this team that has helped to take this team to the top of the world!
